If you are looking for a Glutathione product, you are sure to have come across Reduced Glutathione by Jarrow Formulas. After seeing how highly-rated this product was, we decided we should try it ourselves. This supplement is available in two sizes to choose from. Please read on for our review of this Glutathione product.
Value – 2.9
Reduced Glutathione comes in two different serving sizes; 60 capsules or 120 capsules. These both contain 500mg of reduced form Glutathione, similar to other products we have reviewed. Jarrow Formulas offers a subscription service where you pay less in the short term, but the one time purchase for 60 capsules costs $39.95. The same applies for 120 capsules, with the one-time purchase coming to $71.95. This means that the 60 capsule bottle costs 66¢ per serving, while the larger bottle costs less at 60¢ per serving, which is one of the better valued products we have looked at.
Taste/Flavor – 2.9
Reduced Glutathione comes in capsule form and so should not have any taste or flavor. This will suit some people and disappoint others. We thought that the capsule itself didn’t have a taste, but if the capsule comes undone, the powder inside doesn’t taste great. We also thought that even though the capsules were fairly large, it went down easily enough. Being a capsule shape makes it easier to take than a large pill. Of course, this is subjective and only our opinion, so we would love you to share your views on this Glutathione product.
Nutrition – 3.7
In terms of nutritional content, Jarrow Formulas have provided quality, reduced form glutathione, which is the better form to consume. The G-ratio for healthy cells in our body is around 90% reduced glutathione to 10% oxidized glutathione and this product makes sure you achieve the proper ratio to optimal health. This means you can benefit from its antioxidant power, along with boosting your energy levels and supporting the liver with detoxification. A disappointing aspect of this Glutathione product is that it doesn’t contain any other beneficial ingredients that some of the other products we have reviewed contain. This includes Glutathione precursors, such as alpha lipoic acid, n-acetyl cysteine and l-carnitine. Vitamin C is also an ingredient worth including, as it can raise blood Glutathione levels by nearly 50%, meaning better cellular health and immune system function. On a positive note, Reduced Glutathione is free from gluten, shellfish and soy.
Extra Credit Points or Additional Grade Point Reduction
The pharmaceutical grade Glutathione merits extra credit points. It also offers a great subscription option, for hassle free delivery of this product exactly when you want it. It should be praised for being non-GMO and suitable for vegans and those on a gluten restricted diet. However, we feel points should be deducted for the lack of other beneficial ingredients and the fact that the powder inside the capsule doesn’t taste great.
