Today’s Glutathione review is for a product called Glutathione by NOW Foods. This product is sold with 60 capsules per container and is neither cheap nor over priced. Let’s break down this supplement into our three categories to see what it offers.
Value – 2.5
Glutathione by NOW Foods is available with 60 capsules per container. Excluding sales and promotions, the price tag stands at $34.99 for 500mg of Glutathione per serving. This works out at 58¢ per serving, which falls in the middle of other products we have reviewed.
Taste/Flavor – 2.9
This Glutathione product is available in capsule form and so doesn’t have a specified flavor. This is the subjective part of the review and the following comments are only our thoughts. We have to say, we were impressed with the convenience and quickness of taking this product. It was easy to swallow and didn’t have a bad aftertaste. Being a capsule may disappoint those that were hoping for a flavored supplement. This form was just our preference, but we would love to hear your thoughts and experience.
Nutrition – 3.1
The nutritional content of a product is what really matters and will be the main element as to why you would choose it over others. We were impressed with the quality of this NOW Foods product. It contains 500mg of reduced glutathione per serving and despite its name, this is the better form of Glutathione that is contained in our cells. It makes up the majority of Glutathione in a healthy cell, which many people lack because of age, poor diet or their environment. This supplement can be well absorbed and effectively boost glutathione levels, meaning you can improve your immune system, energy levels and support liver detoxification. NOW Foods have even gone the extra mile and added milk thistle extract and alpha lipoic acid. Milk thistle detoxifies and protects vital liver functions, while alpha lipoic acid is a Glutathione precursor, which will help to produce it naturally in the body. Together, these ingredients make a more powerful product. However, other products have added ingredients such as vitamin C and the other Glutathione precursors; n-acteyl cysteine and l-carnitine. These would boost Glutathione levels even further. On a more positive note, this product is gluten and soy free.
Extra Credit Points or Additional Grade Point Deductions
We thought it was worth highlighting that Glutathione by NOW Foods is GMP quality assured and certified kosher, which merits it extra credit. It also deserves credit for adding milk thistle and alpha lipoic acid, whilst being suitable for vegetarians and vegans. However, there should be a point deduction for not providing other ingredients that other Glutathione products have included.
