We have reviewed a product called L-Glutathione by Swanson. After some research, we found that this company prides itself on providing quality and natural health products at affordable prices. So let’s put this to the test and get on with the review.
Value – 1.0
Let’s see if Swanson delivers on affordable prices, as we investigate the value of L-Glutathione. The normal price, excluding sales and promotions, is $15.99 for 100 capsules. There is also a bigger size available, were you are getting two bottles (200 capsules) for $27.49. For the one bottle, this works out at 16¢ per serving and for the 200 capsules, this comes to 14¢. Either size of L-Glutathione is a bargain compared to the other products we reviewed.
Taste/Flavor – 2.8
L-Glutathione is available in a capsule form, which causes it to be quick and convenient to take. This means it doesn’t have a specific flavor and we found that it had no bad taste or aftertaste. We thought that the capsules were big, but were easy enough to swallow because of its shape. If you don’t like taking pills, this might not be the best choice of product for you. Once again, this portion of the grade is subjective and completely our own opinion. We would love to hear your thoughts, so please leave a comment below.
Nutrition – 3.0
When reviewing products, an important aspect to look at is the nutritional content. L-Glutathione contains 100mg of the patented Setria Glutathione. This is a real advantage, as it is a reduced form of glutathione with a higher absorption rate than standard glutathione. This means it can be more beneficial for cells and overall health. The drawback is that the dose is significantly lower than other products we have reviewed, especially if you are only having one capsule a day. On average most other products provide you with 500mg per serving, whilst L-Glutathione only contains 100mg. It also lacks extra nutritional ingredients, such as glutamine, milk thistle and alpha lipoic acid that we have found in other glutathione products. These can help raise glutathione levels even further and have many other health benefits. Another downside for Swanson’s product is that it contains gelatine, resulting in it being unsuitable for consumption by vegetarians.
Extra Credit Points or Additional Grade Point Deduction
With a 365-day risk-free purchase guarantee, you have nothing to lose if you choose to try this product, which definitely deserves extra credit. However, compared to other Glutathione products, Swanson offered a lower dosage, fewer beneficial ingredients, and made a supplement containing gelatine. There should be a point deduction when taking these omissions into account.
